It’s now been a year since we held our last cybercrime update, and in the meantime annual fraud and cybercrime losses in the UK have grown to the equivalent of £210 per adult, according to research. A total of £10.9bn was lost to the UK economy in the 12 months to April, with fraudulent emails and messages directing people to websites that gather victims’ personal information being the most common con-trick.
Doing business safely online is becoming increasingly important and whilst this growth has benefitted many, the sophistication of online fraudsters is constantly growing.
Specialist officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Unit will be joining the New Forest Business Partnership’s breakfast network meeting again on 20th February to provide an update on the world of cybercrime with key advice to help businesses protect themselves against cyber-enabled fraud and online threats.
