Business Breakfast – Cybercrime (12 January 2017)
Annual fraud and cybercrime losses in the UK have grown to the equivalent of £210 per adult, according to research.
A total of £10.9bn was lost to the UK economy in the 12 months to April, prevention group Get Safe Online said with fraudulent emails and messages directing people to websites that gather victims’ personal information are the most common con-trick.
Doing business online is becoming increasingly important and whilst this growth has benefitted many, the sophistication of online fraudsters has brought with it a variety of problems.
Specialist officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Unit will be joining the New Forest Business Partnership’s breakfast network meeting on January 12th to provide insight into the world of cybercrime and key advice to help businesses protect themselves against cyber-enabled fraud and online threats such as ransomeware.
