It’s now been a year since we held our last cybercrime update. In the meantime annual fraud and cybercrime losses in the UK have grown to the equivalent of £210 per adult. A total of £10.9bn was lost to the UK economy in the 12 months to April 2017, with fraudulent emails and messages directing people to websites that gather victims’ personal information being the most common con-trick.Doing business safely online is becoming increasingly important and whilst this growth has benefitted many, the sophistication of online fraudsters is constantly growing.
Specialist officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Unit will be joining the New Forest Business Partnership’s breakfast network meeting again on 20 February 2018 to provide us with an update on current threats in cybercrime with key advice to help businesses protect themselves against cyber-enabled fraud and online threats.
This breakfast briefing will take place at member venue Careys Manor Hotel and costs £16 for NFBP members (non members are very welcome to attend).
